San Angelo Police Department has informed San Angelo ISD that a suspect is in custody in connection with the social media threat made to the Lake View High School campus last Thursday, September 22, 2022. Threats made to a campus on social media can result in a felony charge due to the widespread effects on the public and school system.

The safety of our students is our first priority. We take all matters of this nature seriously and will follow procedures outlined in our Student Code of Conduct. SAISD, by law, is not at liberty to publicly disclose the names of students or disciplinary actions taken.

Upon becoming aware of the social media threat, district leaders and campus administrators immediately began an investigation in conjunction with the San Angelo Police Department. We appreciate the collaborative effort between the school and law enforcement. SAISD encourages everyone to report threats of any kind to a district or school official, local law enforcement, or report the concern on our district StayAlert link on the SAISD website. Student reports will be kept confidential.

San Angelo Police Department continues to investigate the social media threat to Lake View High School from this morning, September 22, 2022. The active investigation involves determining whether the threat was made locally or is coming from outside our San Angelo-area community. At this time, Lake View High School will proceed with classes as regularly scheduled (with an increased police presence) including the planned high school early release at 11:59am. Updates will be shared as they become available.

San Angelo Police Department just informed SAISD that the investigation is making progress. SAPD continues to have an increased presence at the school. At this time, Lake View High School has implemented a controlled release of students. Students remaining on campus will be in a supervised secured area through the end of the day.

This morning, Thursday, September 22, 2022, San Angelo ISD and Lake View High School were made aware of a threat made on social media. Immediately district leaders and campus administrators began an investigation in conjunction with the San Angelo Police Department. This investigation is currently ongoing, and SAISD will continue to work directly with SAPD. SAISD will provide an update to parents at the conclusion of the investigation. 

As we continue the investigation and out of an abundance of caution, LVHS is implementing additional safety measures including an increased police presence on campus. Parents/guardians may determine to pick up their students and can sign students out at the LVHS front office.
