San Angelo ISD Announces New Campus Leadership for 2026-2027 School Year

San Angelo Independent School District is pleased to announce the following new campus leadership changes ahead of the 2026-2027 school year. These leadership changes will take effect after the conclusion of this school year.

Colton Curtis is the new principal at Lake View High School. Mr. Curtis returns to Lake View High School to lead the Chiefs and the Maidens after serving as the principal at McGill Elementary School for the last four years. Prior to his time as a Mustang, Mr. Curtis served as assistant principal at Central High School and Central High School on Oakes and as a teacher and coach at Lake View High School. Mr. Curtis holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree from Angelo State University.

Brooke Kalnbach is the new principal at McGill Elementary School. Mrs. Kalnbach has almost 25 years of experience in education, all at San Angelo ISD. She most recently served as the Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction after leading as principal at Austin Elementary School. Mrs. Kalnbach taught at Lamar Elementary and served as an instructional coach at Lamar Elementary and Reagan Elementary. Mrs. Kalnbach holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Angelo State University and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.

Julie Key is the new principal at Bowie Elementary School. Stepping up from her role as an assistant principal, Mrs. Key graduated from Angelo State University in May 1991 and began her teaching career at Bonham Elementary School. During her 29 years at Bonham, she was a teacher, instructional coach and assistant principal. Mrs. Key retired in 2020, but couldn’t stay away from education. From the fall of 2023 through 2025, she taught fifth-grade science in Ector County ISD and moved back home to San Angelo in 2025.

Dr. Nikki Parker is the new associate principal at Lake View High School. Dr. Parker steps into this role after serving as the district’s Director of Secondary Curriculum & Instruction and Academic Data. Entering education in 2012, Dr. Parker has served as an instructional coach at Glenn Middle School and arrived at San Angelo ISD in 2020. Dr. Parker holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Colorado State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Doctor of Education degree from Capella University.
 
Nikki Parker
Catalina Peterson is the new principal at Fannin Elementary School, after serving as an assistant principal for the Chargers for the last two years. Prior to her time as an assistant principal. She served as an emergent bilingual interventionist and LPAC coordinator, as well as a teacher at Bradford Elementary School. Mrs. Peterson has nearly 10 years of experience in Education and holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master’s degree in instructional leadership from Angelo State University.
 
Catalina Peterson
Zachary Ramirez is the new principal at San Angelo ISD’s DAEP and PAYS campus. Mr. Ramirez steps into this new role after serving as the Lake View High School principal for the last six years. He has 21 years of experience in San Angelo ISD and has previously served as the principal at Goliad Elementary School. Prior to his roles in administration, he served as a teacher at Lincoln Middle School. Mr. Ramirez holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a master’s degree in school administration from Angelo State University.
 
Zachary Ramirez
Kimberly Spurgers is the interim principal at Bonham Elementary School. She steps into this role as the district continues to search for the best-qualified candidate to lead the Rattlers. Mrs. Spurgers comes to Bonham after serving as the Director of District Behavior Support. Prior to her director appointment, she served as principal at San Jacinto Elementary School. With nearly 25 years of experience in education, all within San Angelo ISD, she has also served as Principal at Holiman Elementary, Assistant Principal at San Jacinto Elementary, Instructional Specialist at Bradford Elementary and a Teacher at McGill Elementary. Mrs. Spurgers holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education in School Administration from Angelo State University.
