San Angelo ISD Welcomes New Head Coaches at Central, Lake View High School

San Angelo ISD is excited to announce two new athletic leadership additions for the 2026-2027 school year, welcoming Harrison Musgrave as the new head baseball coach at Central High School and Jon-Reese Woodson as the new head boys basketball coach at Lake View High School.

Both coaches bring a passion for student-athlete development, strong leadership backgrounds and a commitment to building successful programs on and off the field of play.

Harrison Musgrave - Central High School Baseball
A former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, Harrison Musgrave joins the Bobcats after serving as an assistant baseball coach and special education teacher at Liberty High School in Lubbock-Cooper ISD. Musgrave worked with the varsity pitching staff while also leading the freshman baseball team.

Drafted in 2014, Musgrave served in the Colorado Rockies organization until March of 2020. Prior to the draft, he built a standout career at West Virginia University, where he was named the 2013 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and earned Second Team All-American honors.

In addition to his collegiate and professional baseball experience, Musgrave has coached at the middle school and high school levels in West Virginia and has extensive experience in player development, pitching instruction and mentoring student-athletes.

“Coach Musgrave will be a great addition to the Central Bobcat baseball program,” said Athletic Director Rodney Chant. “His playing experience at the collegiate and professional level, as well as his coaching experience in West Virginia and Texas, stood out among the applicants. We look forward to watching Coach Musgrave at work in the near future.”

Jon-Reese Woodson - Lake View High School Boys Basketball
Jon-Reese Woodson comes to Lake View High School following a successful tenure at Buffalo High School, where he led the boys basketball program to a Regional Semifinal appearance and earned District Coach of the Year honors. During his time at Buffalo High School, the program saw significant growth, including multiple playoff appearances and increased community engagement.

“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead the Lake View High School Chiefs as the new head basketball coach,” said Woodson. “This is a special opportunity for me, and I’m truly grateful to join a school and community that takes so much pride in its traditions.”

Prior to his time at Buffalo High School, Woodson served as the head coach at Woodsboro High School and spent four years as a varsity assistant basketball coach at Midland High School. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for developing strong team culture, emphasizing discipline and helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court.

“My goal is to help our players grow both individually and as a team — not just as basketball players, but as young men. I believe in building a program centered around hard work, accountability, discipline and character. We’ll have high expectations on the court, in the classroom and in how we represent our school every day. I’m ready to get to work, invest in our student-athletes and help build something special that the entire Lake View community can be proud of.”

“We are excited to welcome Coach Woodson to San Angelo ISD and Lake View High School,” said Athletic Director Rodney Chant. “Coach Woodson stood out in the interview process for his passion for kids, high energy, organization and his success the last couple of years at Buffalo High School.”

San Angelo ISD is excited to welcome both Coach Musgrave and Coach Woodson and looks forward to the future of athletics at Central High School and Lake View High School under their leadership.
